Custom NEMA 6P enclosures

Built for continuous immersion

Enclosuremfg fabricates NEMA 6P enclosures for prolonged exposure to standing water, underground moisture, and aggressive chemical accumulation. Designed for battery energy storage systems, utility switchgear, and industrial machinery in flooded vaults and coastal environments.

Thick plate, full-penetration welding, and specialized immersion-service coatings help protect against water hammer, sustained hydrostatic pressure, and corrosion.

Engineering for submerged duty

Watertightness starts with the build

NEMA 6P applications call for more than protection from splashes or hose-down. We select material thickness, weld procedures, and coating systems to suit prolonged submersion and the conditions around each installation.

01 / Weld integrity

Thick-plate, full-penetration seams

For NEMA 6P builds, we use 3 mm to 12 mm plate and full-penetration joints on seams exposed to water. This helps eliminate leak paths that can emerge after repeated pressure cycles.

02 / Pressure management

Reinforced frames and controlled compression

For pump stations and stormwater vaults, mounting points can receive added wall thickness and door frames internal stiffeners sized to expected head pressure. Machined gasket grooves help maintain consistent compression after thermal cycling.

03 / Immersion coating

A multi-layer finish for demanding environments

Our in-house 2500 × 6000 mm automated powder line handles pretreatment and final cure on site. For submerged applications, we apply a multi-layer epoxy primer followed by a high-build polyurethane topcoat formulated for continuous immersion. Salt-spray and cathodic disbondment tests on sample coupons accompany each batch.

Integrated production, under one roof

Keeping cutting, forming, welding, hardware installation, and coating in the same facility helps reduce outside-vendor schedule risk and transit damage that can compromise coating integrity.

  • —Cutting: Three fiber laser cutters at 12 kW and 6 kW produce clean edges on stainless and carbon steel.
  • —Welding: 24 stations include 2 kW handheld laser welders and multiple MIG/TIG cells.
  • —Forming and assembly: Five CNC press brakes, seven automatic clinching and tapping units, and six-meter assembly tables support accurate fit-up and hardware installation.

From project review to shipment

  1. 1

    Review the design

We review 3D models for bend allowance, weld access, and coating coverage before material release.

  2. 2

    Build and finish

Material, weld procedures, reinforcement, and coating are matched to the project requirements.

  3. 3

    Inspect and document

QA checks include incoming material verification, first-article dimensional checks, and 100% pre-shipment pressure testing. Weld maps and coating batch records travel with each shipment.

Applications and order profiles

Sized for real project demands

Procurement teams from BESS integrators and automation builders order 10 to 500 units per release, often through annual blanket agreements.

Underground installations

Compact junction boxes for sensors in wet underground environments.

Utility and energy systems

Enclosures for utility switchgear and battery energy storage systems.

Industrial control skids

Form factors range up to 4–6 m long control skids for battery containers, as well as cabinets for industrial machinery in flooded or coastal settings.

NEMA 6P project questions

A few practical details to help prepare your enclosure inquiry.

What helps an enclosure withstand prolonged submersion?

Project-specific plate thickness, full-penetration welds on water-exposed seams, pressure-conscious frame design, and an immersion-service coating system all contribute to the build.

What project information should we provide?

Send drawings or a project brief. 3D models help us review bend allowance, weld access, and coating coverage before releasing material.

What inspection records accompany shipments?

Weld maps and coating batch records travel with each shipment. Sample-coupon salt-spray and cathodic disbondment testing accompany coating batches.
