Custom industrial sheet metal fabrication
Custom Double Door Enclosure Fabrication
Enclosuremfg manufactures custom double door enclosures for industrial equipment, power systems, and field applications. From laser cutting and CNC bending to welding and in-house powder coating, we build to your drawings and project requirements.
For wide cabinets, a split-door layout can reduce the space needed in front of the enclosure during service. A central overlapping flange and coordinated three-point locking system can also help address dust and water ingress at the door joint.

More practical service access
Each door leaf has a smaller swing envelope than a full-width single door.
Designed around the center seam
Specify an overlapping flange, gasket, and coordinated closure for your application.

Access and sealing
A double-door layout for wide-format cabinets
A single wide door can need substantial swing clearance. Splitting the opening can make access more practical near machinery, walls, walkways, or adjacent equipment.
Actual clearance depends on door width, hinges, handles, and installation layout. We recommend assessing the enclosure in its intended service environment.
Applications
- Industrial machinery housings and operator-access cabinets
- Battery energy storage and power conversion equipment
- Switchboards and electrical control cabinets
- Outdoor utility, telecom, and traffic-control enclosures
- Packaging, automation, and production-line equipment
When to consider two leaves
- A wide single door would obstruct an aisle or nearby equipment.
- Technicians need access to a broad internal service area.
- The cabinet is too wide for practical one-piece door handling.
- Consistent fit matters for recurring production batches.
Layout review matters
A different door arrangement may suit restricted access on one side, center-seam interference with internal components, or a narrow opening. We can review installation access and production drawings before recommending a fabrication approach.
Center-joint engineering
Help protect the meeting edge from ingress
The center line between two doors is a critical design area. A simple butt joint can leave a direct path for dust or water if the doors, frame, and seals do not work together.
Central overlapping flange
For suitable projects, we can fabricate a central flange that overlaps the door-to-door gap when closed. This creates a more protected joint and can be combined with a continuous perimeter sealing arrangement specified for the application.
Three-point rod locking
A locking arrangement coordinated at the top, center, and bottom can draw a wide door into position at multiple points. With a suitable gasket and flange, it can help reduce uneven gaps along the meeting edge.
Design and rating considerations
Clearances, panel stiffness, gasket compression, alignment, latch engagement, rod travel, handle position, and operating force all need review. No single feature guarantees an ingress rating. If you require a specified IP or NEMA rating, include the target and test criteria in your RFQ so the complete design and validation plan can be assessed.
In-house production
From engineering review to finished enclosure
Our 50-person facility integrates key sheet metal processes under one roof, helping coordinate manufacturing handoffs and finishing schedules.
Engineering and design review
Five mechanical and manufacturing engineers review 3D CAD data and drawings for manufacturability, including bend allowances, formed clearances, door alignment, hardware locations, and assembly access.
Cutting, forming, and hardware installation
Three fiber laser cutting machines, including 12 kW and 6 kW systems, process enclosure profiles. Five CNC press brakes support parts from compact chassis to larger structural panels. Automated clinching and tapping equipment installs specified PEM nuts, studs, and standoffs.
Welding, assembly, and coating
Laser, MIG, and TIG welding are selected to suit material, joint design, strength, and cosmetic needs. Large assembly platforms support substantial cabinets and machinery frames. An in-house 2500 × 6000 mm powder coating line handles large-format parts within its processing envelope.
Production assurance
Quality checks throughout production
Six full-time QA/QC specialists support inspection from incoming material verification through production checks and pre-shipment inspection.
Inspection planning can cover drawing-critical dimensions, formed features, hardware placement, weld appearance, finish, and assembly fit. First-article reviews, measurement records, and acceptance criteria can be confirmed before production.
What to include in your RFQ
- 2D drawings and 3D CAD files
- Overall dimensions, material, and thickness
- Door swing and service-clearance constraints
- Center flange, gasket, and locking requirements
- Finish, color, and surface-quality expectations
- Ingress target and applicable test criteria
- Initial batch quantity and annual demand
- Inspection documents and delivery destination
We support high-mix, low-to-medium-volume production, including typical batches of 10–500 units, as well as recurring supply programs. Assemblies up to 6 meters are subject to geometry and process review.
Frequently asked questions
Double door enclosure details
Can you make the two doors overlap at the center?+
Yes. We can fabricate a central overlapping flange where the enclosure design calls for it. Overlap dimensions and clearances should be confirmed against door geometry, gasket arrangement, and required access.
Can you provide a three-point locking system?+
We can incorporate a specified three-point rod locking arrangement. Share the hardware part number or requirements so we can review mounting, rod travel, and fit.
Does an overlapping flange guarantee a waterproof enclosure?+
No. Ingress performance also depends on the gasket, enclosure construction, door alignment, hardware, and testing. Provide the required rating and test criteria for review.
What enclosure sizes can you manufacture?+
Our facility has heavy-duty 6-meter assembly platforms and a 2500 × 6000 mm powder coating line. Feasibility depends on complete dimensions, configuration, and handling requirements.
