316L stainless steel enclosure fabrication

NEMA 4X Enclosures for Corrosive Industrial Environments

Built for demanding North American food processing, chemical handling and offshore applications. Enclosuremfg combines 316L stainless steel, precision fabrication and chemical-resistant sealing to help protect equipment through wash-down, chemical splash and marine exposure.

316L stainless steel NEMA 4X industrial enclosure

Corrosion-focused enclosure design, from material selection through final verification.

Performance in real conditions

Designed for liquid-tight protection and corrosion resistance

NEMA 4X requires more than a sealed door. Material choice, weld quality, passivation and gasket compatibility all contribute to reliable performance in harsh environments.

316L material control

Incoming material is checked against mill certificates and molybdenum content before production. Compared with standard 304 stainless, 316L is selected for improved resistance in corrosive service.

Welds restored after fabrication

Full-penetration seams are followed by pickling and passivation to restore the protective chromium oxide layer across joints and heat-affected areas.

Salt-spray validation

The specified 316L construction and process are built to meet the acceptance criteria of major food and chemical operators after 1,000-hour ASTM B117 exposure.

Seals matched to exposure

Custom profiles and compatible compounds help maintain sealing performance through wash-down, solvent exposure and repeated door cycling.

In-house stainless processing

Control across the fabrication process

Dedicated stainless capabilities support consistent geometry, clean welds and traceable quality from sheet receipt to shipment.

Discuss Your Enclosure
  1. 01

    Verify and cut

Mill-certified material is checked before three fiber laser centers cut 316L sheet up to 25 mm thick, minimizing heat-affected zones.

  2. 02

    Form and assemble

Five CNC press brakes work on 6-meter beds for repeatable radii. Automated clinching installs 316 stainless PEM hardware without dissimilar-metal contacts.

  3. 03

    Weld and passivate

Twenty-four welding stations, including handheld laser welders, produce full-penetration seams with minimal discoloration. Pickling and passivation follow.

  4. 04

    Finish and verify

Stainless projects use in-house belt grinding or electropolishing rather than the powder-coating line, with sealing and dimensional checks before dispatch.

Sealing system selection

Choose the gasket for the chemical profile

Each enclosure receives a custom gasket profile selected for its end-use exposure. Compounds are installed in CNC-routed channels, then compression is verified with go/no-go fixtures to support IP66 / NEMA 4X performance after door cycling tests.

Silicone compounds

Selected for continuous exposure to 10% caustic wash-down and routine sanitation conditions.

Fluorocarbon seals

Specified for solvent exposure and corrosive chemical environments, including chloride and acid vapors.

Built around your operating environment

Application fit by sector

From routine high-pressure sanitation to offshore salt exposure, specify finish, seals and verification against the conditions your equipment will face.

Food processing

Sanitation-ready surfaces

316L mirror interiors reduce bacterial harborage while withstanding daily high-pressure sanitizers.

Chemical plants

Exposure-matched protection

Brushed 316L with fluorocarbon gaskets resists chloride and acid vapors around reactors.

Offshore platforms

Marine-grade construction

Full-penetration laser-welded seams and marine-grade seals support salt-spray and vibration testing required by drilling contractors.

Production and traceability

Scalable runs. Documented quality.

High-mix production accommodates batch sizes from 12 to 400 units on the same manufacturing cells. Eighteen heavy assembly tables support frames up to 6 meters, and 3-ton forklift capacity enables single-piece handling of offshore skids.
